Overview
When Alfred Wegener proposed his theory of continental drift, most people thought he was crazy. It wasn’t until Marie Tharp teamed up with Bruce Hezeen that all of this disbelief started to change.
Students will learn about how Marie plotted ocean depth measurements to reveal a ridge cutting through the Atlantic Ocean. This discovery led to the realization that the sea floor is spreading and Alfred Wegener’s theory was true! This also provided the foundation to develop the Theory of Plate Tectonics.
