The Story Behind the Comic
As a middle school science teacher, Newton’s laws are a staple of the curriculum. In my experience, I have found that Newton’s First Law and Newton’s Third Law were relatively easy for my students to grasp, but Newton’s Second Law of Motion always seemed a little too abstract for my students. I realized my students needed a relatable visual tool to help them grasp the force equation. The bowling ball compared to a soccer ball is not only relatable, but it is easy for students to predict the outcome of kicking both.
